Ureteral Stent Tracker from Visible Health

Bernard Froidcoeur

15 May 2015

We all know the saying “never leave your friends behind”. In the world of urology, ureteral stents are considered friends because they help clinicians and patients get through some tough times when it comes to ureteral obstruction. The problem is that 13% of the time, these stents are left behind or forgotten and subsequently removed later than the 6 month intended maximal removal window (Tech Urol. 2000 Sep;6(3):189-92.). At 6 months, 76% of stents have become encrusted, which leads to higher risk of infection and often times requires additional, more complicated procedures to remove the stent (Urology. 2003 Oct;62(4):622-6.).

Medical Apps in Context - drawMD in the Clinical Setting

Matt Roth

07 Nov 2014

Average people become patients everyday, and everyday providers go to work treating them. The tools they reach for vary depending on the task, sometimes it’s a stethoscope and sometimes it’s a brochure for patient education, but more and more they’re reaching for apps, like drawMD. We don’t always hear about how or when drawMD is used, but occasionally we hear great stories from the front-lines of it being used at the point of care and the impact it can have on people’s lives. In the video below you’ll hear first hand experience from 4th year medical student Raja Narayan, MS4, MPH, about how drawMD can fit into, and improve, clinician workflow.

ASO - What it is, How We Do it and Why it Matters.

Matt Roth

16 Oct 2014

Sixty-three percent of all app downloads result from users browsing through the million-plus apps in iTunes not knowing exactly what they are looking for*. Since potential users don’t know an app exists before they start searching for it, having a strategy to manage an app’s presence in the app store is critical for increasing and maintaining downloads. Not having a strategy to manage an app’s presence in the App Store means you’re allowing its absence. A strategy for developing an app’s presence to garner downloads is usually referred to as app store optimization (ASO) and has two main components: discoverability and appeal.

Visible Health App Provides Access to Clinical Practice Guidelines Improves Care for Kidney Disease Patients

John Cox

06 Sep 2014

The problem: how to globally deliver and operationalize the very latest clinical practice guidelines to improve patient care. Peer-reviewed, painstakingly researched clinical guidelines based on the latest science take years to develop. They are the gold standard for content by which care is administered. But they don’t need to take years to deliver or operationalize in the field. We also deliver the latest clinical guidelines to physicians across the globe who use them at the point of care to ensure treatment decisions are informed by the best science has to offer. Our work with KDIGO demonstrates this capability.
